Protective Coating Project Completed on AT2 Storage for Yorkshire Water
Ferrous Protection
As part of an ongoing maintenance programme for Yorkshire Water, Ferrous Protection recently completed specialist painting works on the AT2 above-ground storage tank at a key facility in Yorkshire.
The project involved full external surface preparation and protective coating application to ensure long-term asset integrity and compliance with Yorkshire Water’s exacting maintenance standards. Working to a defined programme, our skilled operatives carried out all works using MEWPs, allowing safe and efficient access to all areas of the tank.

Surface preparation was performed in accordance with specification to ensure maximum adhesion of the new coating system, with all environmental and operational controls in place. The chosen high-performance protective coating system was applied under controlled conditions, delivering long-term resistance against corrosion and the effects of weathering.
“These works form part of a broader preventative maintenance strategy designed to safeguard Yorkshire Water’s critical infrastructure,” said Director of Operations at Ferrous Protection. “Projects like this demonstrate the value of getting the fundamentals right - surface preparation, coating selection, access planning, and experienced site execution, which all contribute to extending the lifespan of these essential assets.”
Throughout the works, the Ferrous team maintained strict compliance with health and safety protocols, including confined space standby cover, daily permit-to-work procedures, and safe use of powered access. The project was delivered ahead of schedule and to spec, with positive feedback from the client.
